February 04, 2009 ... One Bomb Country.

'The Iranians have shown a very rudimentary capability in a technology that requires far greater sophistication,' Christopher Pang, an analyst at the Royal United Services Institute.

It has been said that Israel vis-à-vis a nuclear strike is a One Bomb Country. This is potentially true to the extent that a nuclear strike by Iran, for instance, on Tel Aviv would have dire consequences for the population of Israel. It would also have dire consequences for a huge number of non-Israelis in the locale, but, as Hamas and Hezbollah, Iran's proxies in the locale have clearly shown, that is not of any particular concern, since they can be claimed as Martyrs.

As per the Iranian launch of its Omid satellite, February 03, 2009, (Hope, in English), Iran has yet again demonstrated an audacity which knows no meaningful censure, as the west continues along a path of ambivalence underpinned by an attitude of superiority, like expressed in the opening quote.

What those outside of Israel fail to understand / propagate is that the technology of the 1950s is sophisticated enough for Iran to achieve enough of a nuclear capability to be able to threaten anywhere in the region, Eurasia and Europe. Even if Iran can only manage to launch a warhead with the explosive capacity of Hiroshima or Nagasaki, there is no country in the world which would be thinking in terms of: 'Well, that could have been worse.'

It's those dangerous perceptions again, as pertains to the impact of Qassam rockets.

For example: Iran targets central London, but the impact ends up in Manchester. Okay, the strike was wildly inaccurate. But it is improbable in the extreme--or one would have the audacity to hope--that Number 10 Downing Street will not be drawing a sigh of relief and declaring: 'Bring it on.' Or: 'Dear Atomic Ayatollah, Let's have a chat about this to see how we can address your legitimate grievances'.

The truth of the matter: We are all One Bomb Countries now.
