July 05, 2007 ... The oldest hatred.

The hatred of Jews is most often associated with the Holocaust of the Nazi regime of the 1930s until the allies’ victory of 1945. By current estimates, the Holocaust would account for almost half of all today’s Jewish population of 13-million in the world. This is coincidentally almost the current population of Israel, which Hamas has sworn to destroy. It is therefore justifiable for Israel to be concerned about any acceptance of Hamas and their allies by Israel’s allies, simply because Hamas has secured the release of BBC journalist Alan Johnston, for instance, as a demonstration of good governance.

Jews have had to suffer a protracted assault for millennia, and still do outside of Israel. This is well documented in a recently published set of .pdf reports published in the United Kingdom by an All-Party Parliamentary Inquiry Into Antisemitism.

The composition above is fictitious because the rejuvenated Reichstag does not share a site with the Jewish memorial. The Jewish memorial resides between the Reichstag and Potsdammer Platz on a plot of reclaimed land.

Whilst the fictitious pairing would be of immense benefit to the world on tour, as a constant reminder to what can happen when dangerous ideologies subsume reason, it is also important that young Israelis are aware of the history and contemporary enmity towards Jews, and thus cannot afford to appease those who would seek to destroy Israel. Trans-generation memory is dangerously too short and lacking direct experiential awareness to be relied upon to make valid judgments in the present for the good of the future, but the longevity of stone and concrete can be useful, if its contexts are directly under many noses.
