September 19, 2008 ... The Earth is not flat, and I have a proof.

Creationism is again being aggressively advocated as a complement to the teaching of science in UK schools, by those who, like their Islamic counterparts, have nothing but time and determination to do so. However--as with any other specialised field of endeavour--science teachers are not in over abundance, nor are science teachers in sufficient numbers, going to knuckle down and become science-cum-creationism philosophers, since very few science teachers will be of a similar mind to creationists. This, for example, would be akin to demanding, for the purposes of employment, that a Muslim science teacher must teach science on the basis of Orthodox Jewish beliefs.

Galileo Galilei

It would also be likely that, as the advocacy of consistency progressed, science must conform to the philosophy of creationism. Let's not forget the travails of Galileo Galilei vis-à-vis the might of the Roman Catholic church, for a taster of what that could entail.

If this were to become a reality in UK schools, the UK can kiss goodbye to any aspirations for a viable economy in the face of more rational competition from China and India.

If creationism must be taught by overwhelming popular demand, it can be arranged for creationism to be taught as a class in that line of philosophy. Furthermore, the Internet abounds with learned information about creationism, and many outlets exist for those with sufficient interest to purchase material pertaining to creationism. No one is being prevented from choosing to study creationism and to associate with like minded others, with the possibility of obtaining accreditation or certification in creationism. The time is long past when to own a Christian Bible written in English and not Latin, was a burning-at-the-stake offence.

Finally, there is also the complication that creationism has to compete with many other belief based, non-scientific philosophies. Like teaching Islam in schools to Infidels, which of these, or branch thereof, should or should not be taught as a complement to science. Science has its conflicts and branches, but they all stand or fall over time in the face of debate, research and proofs according to an internationally agreed system of principles. Thus, science is science. Belief is what you want it to be.
