June 02, 2008 ... The man from Harare says: I laugh in the face of fear and tweak the nose of the dreadful spindly killer fish.

After his election defeat and the ZANU-PF backlash against the MDC opposition, which is continuing unabated, and denouncing UK condemnation and calling for Zimbabweans to be 'vigilant in the face of the vicious machinations of Britain and its other allies,' President-for-life Robert Mugabe has arrived in Rome to discuss and propose remedies for the world food crisis with other UN leaders and representatives.

Unlike Israel's Major-General Doron Almog who was mischievously accused of ordering the destruction of 50 Palestinian homes, for which he was almost arrested by police in London, President Robert Mugabe, for whom there is absolutely no doubt about his guilt over the destruction of property, killings and woundings, is permitted free access to the EU under UN rules to do as he pleases.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown did refuse to meet him in Lisbon, but Robert Mugabe turned up anyway and shot his cuffs on his way to the summit of European Union and African leaders, to be mildly rebuked by Chancellor Angela Merkel. How he must have laughed as He, Grace and others in his entourage, lived it large at EU taxpayers' expense: Post-colonial reparations in Mugabe logic.

Even if he loses the June 27, 2008 election, Robert Mugabe will declare 'NO SURRENDER', which he is justifiably confident in being able to do in the face of world opinion. Thus, aside from the possibility of sudden death from old age in the near future, his reign of terror is assured for years to come, so long as he doesn't push the United States too far, by harassing the American ambassador and his staff. How far he can push the United States will doubtless be the subject of discussions with Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who is also in Rome, and who has years of experience in dealing with inconsequential irritations like the EU and US.

June 05, 2008 ... Update: British and American embassy staff detained and threatened.

June 23, 2008 ... Mark Malloch Brown: "If Mugabe thinks this finishes it, he's in for a big surprise. He has united the world against him."

June 24, 2008 ... No big surprise for Mugabe.

June 28, 2008 ... President Bush initiates sanctions and other disincentives for the continuation of Mugabe in power.

June 30, 2008 ... The White House chooses to ignore Zimbabwe's Presidential election outcome. AU leaders in Sharm el-Sheikh decide to ignore it, too, and get on with business as usual, knowing full well that the west will keep giving them the money.
